AI Speaking Practice Device — Multilingual AI Practice & Instant Translation
The AI Speaking Practice Device is not a listening player or a story player — it makes children actually speak. 1.85-inch touchscreen, dual-mic array, sentence-level pronunciation scoring, instant AI translation, no SIM card and no app. Chinese and English standard, other languages customised, ODM and white-label ready.
Description
This is not a listening player and not a story player. Listening players feed audio in; story players run background immersion. This device does the third thing — it makes the child speak, and it answers back. A 1.85-inch touchscreen, a dual-microphone array, pronunciation scoring and instant translation in a palm-sized circular body. No SIM card, no app. Power on and talk.

1. Why children understand English but cannot speak it
Vocabulary lists, audio tracks and cartoons are all one-way input. Speaking needs a turn-by-turn exchange — you say something, someone replies. Parents have limited time and tutors bill by the hour, so a child may get under ten minutes of real speaking per week.
Mispronounced words and awkward grammar that never get corrected become muscle memory. By the time an exam or an interview exposes them, they are expensive to fix.
Talking to a real person in a foreign language creates pressure — the fear of being laughed at. A partner that never gets impatient, never judges and always listens is often what gets a child past the very first sentence.
2. Six core capabilities: power on and start speaking
| Capability | How it is actually used | Search intent it answers |
|---|---|---|
| AI speaking practice | Pick a scenario character; the device speaks first and the child replies, turn after turn | AI speaking practice device / one-to-one speaking / immersive English practice |
| Pronunciation scoring | Each sentence is scored instantly with a more natural alternative offered | pronunciation assessment / speaking correction / native pronunciation |
| Instant AI translation | Speak Chinese, get English; speak English, get Chinese — without breaking the conversation | real-time translation / EN–CN translation / travel translator |
| Multi-scenario roles | Ordering food, asking directions, interviews, classroom Q&A | scenario dialogue / situational English / role-play practice |
| Wordbook and review | Words that were missed or mispronounced are saved for later drills | vocabulary collector / word device / spaced review |
| No SIM, no app | Built-in Wi-Fi; usable the moment it powers on, zero setup for parents | no SIM card / no phone needed / portable AI tutor |
3. Real shots: a palm-sized circular body you actually carry
The circular body is 58 mm across, 17.2 mm thick and weighs roughly 55 g: small hands can grip it, and it disappears into a pocket or clips onto a schoolbag. The physical talk button is raised so it can be pressed without looking at the screen.
4. How it differs from the three common product types
Most products on the market solve listening (textbook listening players), passive immersion (story players) or translation (adult translators). All three share one trait — the child barely has to speak. That missing piece is exactly what this device fills.
| Dimension | Textbook listening player | Passive audio story player | Adult translator | AI speaking practice device |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core action | Listen (textbook audio / reading pen) | Listen (passive immersion audio) | Translate (after you finish) | Speak (it replies and keeps the conversation going) |
| Does the child actually speak? | Rarely — input only | Almost never | Not applicable | Every turn ends with a question, so speaking is unavoidable |
| Pronunciation feedback | Basically none | Basically none | No scoring | Sentence-level pronunciation scoring + grammar hints |
| SIM card / app required? | Usually yes | Needs imported content | Usually paired to a phone | No SIM, no app — power on and talk |
| Typical price band | ¥248–389 | ¥310–830 | ¥259–359 | ODM quote, white-label ready |
| Open for custom development? | Closed | Closed | Closed | Open: core board + SDK + production support |
| Language expansion | Mostly English | Mostly English | Mainly ZH/EN/JP/KR | Chinese + English standard; others customised |

7. Frequently asked questions
- Q:How is an AI speaking practice device different from a listening player or story player?
- Listening and story players solve listening — they push audio at the child. This device solves speaking. It answers back and keeps asking follow-up questions, so every exchange is a real two-way conversation, with pronunciation scoring and grammar correction on each sentence. If the child does not speak, the conversation cannot continue. That is the essential difference.
- Q:Does it need a SIM card or a phone app?
- No. The device connects over Wi-Fi on its own. Power it on and start practising — no SIM card, no app to install, no Bluetooth pairing. Parents do not have to provision a card, download an app or manage a connection.
- Q:Which languages are supported? Can we add others?
- Chinese and English ship as standard. Additional languages (Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Thai, Arabic and more) can be customised per project, including speech models, UI strings and lesson content — ideal for brands and education groups localising for a new market.
- Q:Is the pronunciation scoring reliable? Does it correct grammar?
- A dual digital silicon microphone array captures audio at 48 kHz, and a cloud language model scores pronunciation and grammar sentence by sentence. When a sentence is wrong it suggests a more natural phrasing and saves the item to a wordbook for review.
- Q:What age range is it suitable for?
- From primary-school English启蒙 through lower-secondary speaking practice. Scenarios and characters are configurable by age: short sentences, slower speech and encouraging feedback for younger learners; longer sentences and open-ended follow-up questions for older ones.
- Q:Do you support white-label / ODM? What is the MOQ?
- Yes. We provide full-device ODM and white-label service: colourways, boot logo, UI theme, language packs, lesson content, packaging and manuals. Please contact us through the website for MOQ and quotation.
- Q:Is there a core-board version? We have our own product definition.
- Yes. The same platform is available as a circular core board (50.11 × 49.36 mm) in our Embedded & Industrial Platforms section, with a firmware framework and SDK for teams building their own product.
- Q:How about battery life and portability?
- The circular body measures 58 × 58 × 17.2 mm and weighs roughly 55 g — palm-sized and single-hand friendly, easy to slip into a pocket or clip to a schoolbag. It charges over USB Type-C at 5 V / 300 mA, with sleep current below 60 mA.
