Wi-Fi works well in a known environment

Wi-Fi is usually a practical choice when the device is used mainly at home, in a classroom or in a managed venue. It can simplify data use and support local configuration, but the setup flow needs to be designed carefully: a product that cannot join a network easily will feel unfinished regardless of its AI features.

4G supports mobility, with more system planning

A 4G version can keep a device connected outside a fixed network, which is useful for portable interactive products and field use. The design also needs to account for SIM provisioning, antenna placement, power peaks, data plans, regional connectivity and recovery when the network changes.

Design the whole interaction path

For voice products, the microphone, speaker, wake-up flow, latency, privacy controls and fallback behaviour deserve the same attention as the network. For toys and badges, enclosure durability, charging, indicators and easy recovery are equally important.
