Choosing a core board starts with the application rather than a chip name.
Start with the workload
Define the operating system, graphics or AI requirements, camera and display needs, memory capacity, interface count and expected thermal environment. These factors determine whether a platform is appropriate for evaluation and deployment.
Check the integration path
Review available documentation, carrier-board compatibility, software support, production lifecycle and the level of customization required. A board that performs well in a demo still needs a clear route to enclosure design, testing and manufacturing.
Plan for validation
Prototype with the final I/O and workload as early as possible. Test power, thermals, storage, network stability and any camera or display peripherals in the target environment.
